It is our hope that the classes will help you grow in your understanding of the complexities and depths of how these food and weight issues effect every aspect of your life.

These courses combine lecture with experiential practices and daily focuses to create an atmosphere of learning that reaches all levels of awareness: body, mind, heart, & soul. As a student at this university, you will increase your ability for making healthy decisions about the roles weight and food play in your life and the lives of those around you.

"Creating a Respectful Relationship with Your Body".

From "Introduction"

Conscious Eating leads to weight loss and weight loss maintenance because you are eating only for physical hunger. As you learn to differentiate between physical hungers and other hungers and learn how to respond accurately to all your hungers, the weight loss will follow.

Conscious Eating™ means being connected to your body, listening to your body, and trusting your body. This connection to your body cannot be achieved over night. It takes time and it takes practice.

In order to help you develop a healthy connection with your body, we have developed a series of classes designed to educate the whole person: body, mind, heart, and soul. One of the most important aspects of creating this connection is first developing a respectful relationship with your body.

The goals of this course are:

  1. Learn how having a respectful relationship with your body can create a safe environment for weight loss.
  2. Learn how to identify and reinforce positive thoughts about your body.
  3. Understand how your feelings about your body affect your food choices and weight.

How to Use the Class

When you enroll in a class you will receive an instructional CD and a workbook. Each class starts with a meditation, you then listen to the short lecture. After the lecture of the week, you will proceed to listen to the visualization created to enhance your total experience.

The next day you are ready for the daily questions, one question per day to prepare you for the next lecture (see the Workbook Sample below). You are encouraged to do the meditation and visualization as much as possible because the more you practice, the deeper your connections to Body, Mind, Heart and Soul, which results in a richer more profound class experience.

Using the instructional CD, you will be able to listen to the lectures, meditation, and visualization in the comfort and privacy of your own home or office. It is convenient because you are in charge of when and where you do it.
