There is no such thing as good food or bad food. Food only
has value in terms of how it makes you feel physically. Only
you can determine whether a food is good or bad based on how
it makes your body feel.
Food is fuel for the body.
There are no magic foods or food combinations that work for
permanent weight loss.
We don't focus on the amount of food eaten which means there
is never an absolutely correct portion size. Only our body
can tell us how much to eat. If we are consciously eating,
the amount of food will vary from day to day.
Women are victimized and brainwashed by the diet industry
that tells them they cannot possibly know what is good for
them, that someone else needs to tell them how much to eat,
what to eat, and even when to eat. Women are given messages
that their bodies are unacceptable and they should strive
for an unrealistic weight and body shape.
Conscious Eating will help women become the expert of
their own bodies, to regain power over their food and their
lives. The program teaches women how to listen to their bodies
and how to respect and respond to what their bodies are telling
them.
Each day the body requires a different amount of food and
different kinds of food. Women learn that they can trust their
body to tell them when to eat, what to eat and how much to
eat.
Throughout the program we encourage women to experiment with
a wide variety of foods and then pay attention to how the
food makes their bodies feel, both immediately and over time.
Eat the best of all your food choices. Really enjoy every
bite of food you eat. This will satisfy any cravings and will
make it easier to know when to stop. For example if you really
want a rich chocolate truffle you should have the best truffle
you can find (best meaning the one you like the most) and
not try to satisfy the truffle craving with a chocolate chip
cookie. The cookies will never satisfy the craving and you
will end up double eating (eating a substitute and eating
what you crave) which results in weight gain.
Food is plentiful. There will always be enough food. You do
not have to worry that if you don't eat something today that
you will never get to have it again. If you really want it,
you will find a way to have it whenever your body is really
hungry for it. Knowing this and believing this will decrease
any feelings of deprivation which will decrease old diet thoughts
and unconscious eating.
Buy foods you like and make them available to you in your
house and at work. Many people feel that if they had their
favorite food around their house or at work that they would
be out of control and eat it all up. This may happen at first
because it is a normal reaction to being on a diet or feeling
deprived.
Feeling out of control with food comes with dieting and deprivation.
As you make your favorite foods available to you, you will
begin to realize that it will not disappear, it is there for
you , it has become a choice for you just like any other food.
Once you can trust the food will always be there, you will
feel in control because you know that you can make a conscious
choice of when and what to eat.
Remember, you deserve only the best!
